On a lazy Sunday afternoon, my sister and I ventured out to fulfill our pangs for good yet healthy food and decided to drive across the city to Sienna Café. The entrance itself is warm and welcoming, and the ambiance inside transports you to an alternate reality.
Quaint and quirky, Sienna Café is choc-a-bloc full of tourists. The mosaic tiles, fairy lights, mismatched chairs, outdoor seating and splattering of green give the entire café a unique mystical charm (and definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for photo-ops!)
The menu is limited in number but loaded with healthy options (and the only place in the city I’ve found which serves avocado!). Eccentric salad options and authentic Italian and Mediterranean options makes the menu inimitable. We would have loved to order more but weren’t too hungry. We opted for the:
- Pesto Mushroom Fettucine
Very rarely do you find a good fettucine, with smooth pasta, creamy sauce and chunky mushrooms. As a sucker for basil, I loved the kick of pesto! Honestly, nothing screams happiness more than a generous helping of hearty pasta.
- Ice Green Tea
I have never been more excited for a cup of tea! As an enthusiast of ice tea (I order ice tea literally everywhere) and a green tea loyalist, I was beyond thrilled at this menu option! I enthusiastically chugged down and it might just be the best version of ice tea I’ve drunk (Sorry lemon ice tea, I hope your feelings aren’t hurt!). I’m going to be doing some green tea and solidified water experiments at home over the next few days to replicate this genius invention!
- Fried Chicken with Salad
The chicken arrived with a flourish, sizzling hot from the fryer. Crisp on the outside and tender on the inside, it looked great against the pop of colour of the salad. Watch out for the chicken being on the undercooked side because the pieces are quite large. The salad is just chopped cucumber and tomatoes with seasoning but still refreshing on a summer afternoon.
- Spiced Hot Chocolate
Absolutely delicious, the spiced hot chocolate is yet another ingenious invention of this peculiar café. A great version of hot chocolate which has all the goodness of classic hot chocolate (hearty and warming) with the added kick of spice which leaves your throat tingling. Don’t miss out on the heart shaped marshmallows that come with it!
So the next time you want to dress up and take fake candids while sipping quirky concoctions and munching on a healthy snack, head on to Sienna Cafe!
